Zur Zeit Martin Luthers verkaufte dieser besonders eifrig Ablassbriefe, durch die &#8211; gegen Geld &#8211; zeitliche S\u00fcndenstrafen erlassen werden sollten. Dieser gesch\u00e4ftsm\u00e4\u00dfige Umgang mit der S\u00fcnde und ihren Folgen ist zu Recht in die Kritik geraten. Er war ein wesentlicher Ausl\u00f6ser der Reformation. In seinen 95 Thesen sagt Luther: \u00bbEin jeder Christ, der wahre Reue und Leid hat \u00fcber seine S\u00fcnden, hat v\u00f6llige Vergebung von Strafe und Schuld, die ihm auch ohne Ablassbrief geh\u00f6rt. Ein jeder wahrhaftige Christ [\u2026] ist teilhaftig aller G\u00fcter Christi und der Kirche, aus Gottes Geschenk, auch ohne Ablassbriefe.\u00ab<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trotz dieser klaren Worte habe ich den Eindruck, dass sich viele Menschen, wenn es um die Beseitigung pers\u00f6nlicher Schuld geht, doch nur ungern (allein) auf Bu\u00dfe und Vergebung verlassen. Lieber \u00bbtut\u00ab man etwas: eine gro\u00dfz\u00fcgige Spende, ein bestimmtes formalisiertes Gebet, eine religi\u00f6se Opferhandlung, eine Wallfahrt, Selbstz\u00fcchtigung, Fasten oder was auch immer. Die Motivation ist nachvollziehbar: Ich muss doch irgendetwas dazu beitragen, begangenes Unrecht zu s\u00fchnen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Im zwischenmenschlichen Bereich halte ich es auch f\u00fcr v\u00f6llig richtig, angerichteten Schaden wiedergutzumachen. Im Verh\u00e4ltnis zu Gott ist das jedoch ein Irrweg. Denn Gott kann ich nichts geben, was auch nur die kleinste Schuld s\u00fchnt. Diese Haltung beleidigt ihn vielmehr. Denn er hat doch f\u00fcr jede S\u00fcnde bereits das Leben seines Sohnes Jesus Christus gegeben. Das ist v\u00f6llig ausreichend.
